 ABOUT US

History of MP&G Machine and Design, Inc.

MP&G Machine and Design, Inc. began in 2002 when three friends got together to start their own machine shop. With the loan of 300 square feet in the historic Hill Mill Building in Lewiston, Maine to get started, a couple of used machines, a list of business contacts, and the desire to do whatever it would take to succeed, a company was born.

The company expanded after two months with the addition of four brand new machines then after five months our first employee. We grew two more times in that first year to 2500 square feet of rental space and three more employees. We continued to expand in the mill as our customer base blossomed over the next few years.

We began welding and fabricating in a small portion of our space and added more machinists and a full time fabricator. The fabrication part of our company quickly grew to need its own facility so we expanded into a separate building.

MP&G now occupies over 12,000 square feet of space and our talented staff has grown every year. The company continues to grow even today with the difficult economy by using the talents of our team to offer full service mechanical and electrical design.

We maintain our fundamentals by continuing to manufacture small parts, components, and prototypes but have now brought more benefit to our customers by adding full machine design, electromechanical automation, integration, robots, and robotic systems.

About Us

MP&G started with three friends that became partners. Ed Major, Larry Powers, and Greg Gagnier comprised the company originally and, as times changed, and the fabrication division grew, we brought in Jason Powers as partner.

The partnership works through diversity; with Ed Major overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business, Larry Powers supervising the work flow and employees, and Jason Powers leading the welding and fabrication facility. (Greg Gagnier is now working on his other business interests.) We have found a special harmony in business with over 75 years of experience.

Our talented staff and support team allow us to venture into many areas. We are capable of creating small precision components as well as full machine design, integration, and manufacture.

"As a Manufactured Parts Buyer for over 20 years, I am very pleased to recommend MP&G Machine & Design as a potential supplier for your company. I have worked with Ed Major since 1995, beginning with his employment at Met-Craft, right through to the present at MP&G Machine & Design.

Ed is one of the most professional and thorough persons I have ever dealt with in my years of purchasing machined components and have always been willing and eager to take on the challenging work that I have presented him. He is the vendor who will find a way to do what others say they cannot do.  All the employees at his company pay special attention to detail.  The quality of their workmanship is outstanding and delivery schedules are seldom missed.

MP&G Machine & Design’s hard work and commitment is a critical asset to our company. They are a pleasure to do business with and come highly recommended."
